A smarter lockdown at Sirius Academy West – Sirius Academy West in Hull, part of The Constellation Trust, recently upgraded its master key system with help from Em-B Solutions, replacing a legacy suite of cylinders that had become unreliable and vulnerable to key duplication.
The original cylinder system had reached the end of its patent protection, raising concerns about unauthorised key copying. In addition, repeated cylinder failures because of the system’s age were threatening to compromise both daily operations and safeguarding protocols. The school required a solution that provided improved reliability, enhanced key control, and long-term security, all while staying within a tight budget.
After a thorough review of the school’s requirements, Em-B recommended the PXM6 cylinder system from CES. This robust, high-security, cost-effective master key system offers key duplication protection until 2038, safeguarding against unauthorised copying and providing peace of mind for the Academy.
Em-B included anti-barricade functionality in the masterkey design to allow staff to override the thumb turn from outside the door in emergency scenarios, which can be critical in schools where speed of response matters. This small detail can make a significant difference in safeguarding and student welfare. In total, Em-B supplied more than 400 CES PXM6 cylinders and padlocks, with additional components added as the school expanded the system. The upgrade has delivered greater reliability, easier management, and enhanced security for the entire site.
